Not likely to happen. I have a PS2 with the Linux kit, and it does not have the oomph needed to be a frontend. It's a little endian MIPS machine running at I want to say somewhere in the ~200-300 mHz range, with 32mb of RAM. It does of course have the GPU, but that would have to be specifically coded for.
