Hi Tom,

My mind is already thinking of how to add to the firmware for this extra
support. The plan is, as per your idea, to have the firmware prompt various
ports and wait for human response. Then based on which port the response came,
write those addresses to the BIOS area for Console I/O. The problem isn't
figuring out which ports, but it's knowing the status bits that work with that
port. The Data Available bit and Transmit Busy bit can be any of the 8 bits
and in either polarity (1 or 0).
While I believe there might be ways to search all these status bits to make the
system "learn" how the port is strapped, my dilemma is time. How much time do
I want to spend on it. As a compromise, I can do the same prompt and wait
method but narrow it down to a few combinations. This will simplify my coding
task.

This is why I'm looking now for a list of common ports and status bits to load.

Cheers,
Josh

I was asking for support. My unit was working with John's monitor and tools.
Unfortunately I don't have access to my system and can't look at the settings.

Ok,

I have finished the last parts, connectors, etc. The board is working! It's a
little picky as to what kind of monitor it will run. It only works with 2 of 4
monitors I tried with it. But, that's ok.

Now, Rich has indicated one configuration, does anyone else want to share
their I/O configuration of this board?

Who on the list was asking for the 8080 board to support this Console I/O?

Thanks,
Josh

Hi Guys,

I'm finished building this board, I'm in the final stages to configure.

What is the most common address and status configuration? I realize it's
configurable to match existing vintage software, but I'm hoping to list a few
common setups that I can program in firmware. It's acceptable for more than
one, since I can test for Status reaction and/or prompt each configuration for
a response.

Cheers,
Josh
