I too used a warm towel to remove the Shellac I have a warmer though...but I'm sure you could use a crockpot (not too sure about sanitation) or a microwave to warm up towels...it's also great for after the process of removing and you have white finger tips to wipe the hands as if they were receiving an extra treatment I really don't think using oil prior to a new application is all that great, I personally have a phobia of it and afraid it will compromise the longevity of the product application.
Great ideas from everyone! I wet my towels lightly before I put them in and remove them when warm to remove exfoliating crystals on hands and arms. I have done this on myself in the past. I guess, as you suggest, we can do the same to wrap hands when have acetone with cotton wrapped in foil on nails. But, is a Crockpot legal to use in a salon or do you think we can get fined since it's not really for salon use? Sorry if my question may sound ridiculous, but I had to ask. Thanks so much, Peggy :o)!!! ----- Original Message ----- From: Weigants To: [email protected] Sent: Monday, September 27, 2010 4:18 PM Subject: Re: NailTech:: Re: Was-Research Question.NOW Fills with Eco & Other Related (Please see Lynnette) Use a Crockpot! --- On Mon, 9/27/10, kelley smith <[email protected]> wrote: From: kelley smith <[email protected]> Subject: Re: NailTech:: Re: Was-Research Question.NOW Fills with Eco & Other Related (Please see Lynnette) To: [email protected] Date: Monday, September 27, 2010, 1:39 PM microwave them ? or make a small rice pad and use that on your table to add heat and microwave it. I'm glad you mentioned hot towels. I use them in my spa pedicure services, so it would probably be better/cheaper/more effective to use them rather than paraffin!! Thanks, Arpi! How much would you charge if you added paraffin? On Sat, Sep 25, 2010 at 10:17 PM, Marsha Rubino <[email protected]> wrote: Thanks for the report Kelley! I'm wondering if you tried coating your fingertips with paraffin after applying the foil/cottonball/acetone to soak. I've been using the "nail spas" loaded with a cottonball and acetone to do the soak off. It works well, but I'm considering going back to the foil/cottonball/acetone method and then using a plastic bag to apply the paraffin. (Most clients thumbs don't fit easily into the nail spas) Plus, I think the heat from the paraffin would speed up the process considerably! I did one hand at a time and it took about 35-40 mins each hand. I think my next experiment is going to be just putting the base coat on the new growth at the back of the nail only, it was alot of work removing them and they were kinda thick but not as thick as enhancements. Boy I am babying my nails now, i just put on a few layers of duri rejuvacoate. they are in good shape. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "NailTech" group.
