Just to play Devil's Advocate, I use a number of different products in my
salon. Shellac for French only (it's just not cost effective to use for
colors and it's the easiest way to do a French) Star ECO and YN ManiQ with
glitter or mixed with polish. We call the service a Magic Manicure. While
the client may call and ask for Shellac, we tell them that our Magic
Manicure is a "similar" service. I really don't think that is misleading,
nor do I think our other products are imposters and bottom line, even if you
do educate the client, in their mind they are still getting Shellac.
