Wow...Reminds me of when I had a client to me that insisted that she had gels on years ago and when I started to drill her out to fill in her nails all I could smell was the MMA from the products the Chop Shop put on her...I had to inform the client that she in fact did NOT have gels nor did she have a reputable product on her hands that they lied to her just to get her business and money. She then became a client of mine for over 9 years and still to this day as she has moved to another state refuses to go to a Chop Shop and has NO Nails.
If only more people/clients would do their research and get informed of the differences between well educated manicurist and fly by night Chop Shops...They really don't get that great of a deal when they get charged for every little detail in their service, sometimes ending up with something like a fungus, cut up cuticles, rings of fire, MMA products that are harmful to their health, getting talked about right in front of them in another language, I heard of them being so very rude to...I could go on and on. I'm all for everyone trying to make a buck and money does make the world go round but why ruin it for the ones that worked hard to learn the right way, pay good money to get educated and purchase all the best of products and equipment only to have someone cheat them out of their business? Someone really does need to put a stop to those non reputable salons....REALLY!!! I too am a system girl and think it's great that you can enter exchange products but feel most comfortable using the items that were designed to be used in conjunction with each other. Wow Smokin Nails HUH...Really not my kind of advertising strategy but okay! New client came in tonight, she called 2 weeks ago to get in to take off her "shellac" she had put on the week prior, been busy so she had a 3 week "shellac" outgrowth. Thinking "Shellac" is "shellac", I book her for an hour. She comes in, lovely lady, thanking me that she found someone so much closer to home :). Oil/Acetone/Foil wrap her up, 10 minutes pass, I take off the pinky.....not easily scrapping off, hmmm, put the foil pack back on for another 5 minutes. Lets just say, this process, plus filing off the product took 20+ minutes. Fast forward to application....hmmm...the salon she went to for "shellac" only had the white for her french in a bottle with a brush......hmmmm SHELLAC IMPOSTER!!! I love how these non-standard salons continually ruin our industry reputation passing off false information/products continually. We need to find a way to become a united front and knock these undesirables off their butts and out of business!
