Renee,
I have never had to start totally over. I buff or file until the pitts where 
gone then either apply one more coat of color if needed or just the top coat. I 
have also seen the pits on the first coat and went on with the second and top 
and they turned out fine. Yes the inconsistency of these gel polishes are very 
frustrating, but together we are all working out the bugs. I guess we could 
think about it as job security.

There really shouldn't be any pitting with Gelish foundation, because the 
product is so so so thin....
