Okay my wise friends, please excuse my grammar I sucked in English I have been in a new shop now for 3 months, ( 3 stylist and me) and 5 weeks ago girl one decides to give notice. Owner goes into a panic, She had before I came to shop 3 empty hair and 2 empty nail stations. I find out why no one wanted to go in with me on advertising. Girl one has been planning this and putting it off for over a year so I realize owner probably felt she would never go. I am the techie in the group so I post 7 internet adds and while doing so notice 8 yup you see it 8 other salons are wanting stylists! Owner has not done anything to advertize the salons openings not before I came or now when needed! not even a sign on the door or at the road for stylists!
Owner has told us she only has enough money for one more month rent and girl one says yeah right, I was paying half of it 800 a month! So now I am thinking that is why owner is in a panic. NO MONEY! So Yes ,I have been shopping for a new space. To get to the point 5 weeks have gone by the girl one is leaving on Friday and owner doesn't know if she is going to be able to down size the salon and what new rent will be and must have a commitment from me and the other gal on how long we will stay. Owner has repeatedly ignored her responsibility I have lost all respect for this women this is just the tip of the ice cream cone on what has gone on. She didnt want to advertize because she had all the clients she needs and doesnt need any more so when a manicurist was in an accident she told me in front of 4 people that I would get them clients, ( she knew the gal and she was referring clients to our salon , she now needs hand surgery and doesnt know when she will be back) Owner has done 3 new clients and couldnt get 4th one in so threw me a bone, then during the appointment was checking my work and telling client that her and I do things very differently! owner also pre booked client for 2 appointments first one with me and next one with her! Okay now you know some of the crap and I do mean some there is so much more but I know you don't have time for a book! I have been offered a place in town Traverse City, MI about 4 blocks away.A very small space compared to where I am now, 50 bucks more rent, but 8 stylist 2 full time 6 part time. Plus walk in potential because it is truly right down town vs the tucked away salon I am at never has walk ins. That is alot of potential clients for me! I am sure if I talk to the owner she would come down 50 on rent for 6 ms so that I can recoup the cost of putting in a pedi station and re doing lighting and paint and such. I already have a table.
