I agree...need to get your things out ASAP. Make a list of every single
thing....go from space to space throughout the entire salon and write down
anything that belongs to you. That way you won’t forget the disinfectant tray
like I did at salon #$@#% last Summer. Or the CND Shellac rack like I did at
salon @#$%$^ #$%^ like I did last Fall! lol

Seriously...this is not a good environment conducive to performing relaxing,
appealing services and/or building a successful clientele. Find a better
fit....soon!

Best wishes,

Well, IMO, you need to move ASAP. I hate being in a position of having to
move ASAP because I don't have the time to shop around. This happened to me
once and I did not move to a great salon, but it was all that was available on
short notice. I was on short notice because the owner had not been paying the
rent and we were all (booth renters) being evicted. It didn't matter that I and
the other renters had paid our rent to the salon owner because the salon owner
did not pay the building owner, so, out we all went!

My advice is to move ASAP before your stuff gets put out at the curb in the
rain!

After you have a solid roof over your head, you can then evaluate the new
salon. Is it a good fit for your business? How do the stylists/nail techs work
together? How much walk in business can you expect to get each week? Is the
owner stable? Does she pay her bills (salon bills)? Do you have a key to the
salon? Can you have your own retail if you want it? How much does the
owner/other renters meddle in your business? If you decide that the new salon
is not a good fit, the general rule is to stay for 1 year to give it a chance
then move it it isn't working. Since it will be a planned move, you will have
plenty of time to shoo around for a better fit.

Btw, all the things you mentioned that the owner was doing are deal breakers
and you should by no means tolerate such unprofessionalism from a salon owner.

Sorry you had such a bad experience. Just goes to show that any idiot can
open a business, but it takes a business woman to build a business.

Okay my wise friends, please excuse my grammar I sucked in English

I have been in a new shop now for 3 months, ( 3 stylist and me) and 5 weeks
ago girl one decides to give notice. Owner goes into a panic, She had before I
came to shop 3 empty hair and 2 empty nail stations. I find out why no one
wanted to go in with me on advertising. Girl one has been planning this and
putting it off for over a year so I realize owner probably felt she would never
go. I am the techie in the group so I post 7 internet adds and while doing so
notice 8 yup you see it 8 other salons are wanting stylists! Owner has not done
anything to advertize the salons openings not before I came or now when needed!
not even a sign on the door or at the road for stylists!

Owner has told us she only has enough money for one more month rent and
girl one says yeah right, I was paying half of it 800 a month! So now I am
thinking that is why owner is in a panic. NO MONEY! So Yes ,I have been
shopping for a new space.
To get to the point 5 weeks have gone by the girl one is leaving on Friday
and owner doesn't know if she is going to be able to down size the salon and
what new rent will be and must have a commitment from me and the other gal on
how long we will stay. Owner has repeatedly ignored her responsibility

I have lost all respect for this women this is just the tip of the ice
cream cone on what has gone on. She didnt want to advertize because she had all
the clients she needs and doesnt need any more so when a manicurist was in an
accident she told me in front of 4 people that I would get them clients, ( she
knew the gal and she was referring clients to our salon , she now needs hand
surgery and doesnt know when she will be back) Owner has done 3 new clients
and couldnt get 4th one in so threw me a bone, then during the appointment was
checking my work and telling client that her and I do things very differently!
owner also pre booked client for 2 appointments first one with me and next one
with her!

Okay now you know some of the crap and I do mean some there is so much more
but I know you don't have time for a book!
I have been offered a place in town Traverse City, MI about 4 blocks
away.A very small space compared to where I am now, 50 bucks more rent, but 8
stylist 2 full time 6 part time. Plus walk in potential because it is truly
right down town vs the tucked away salon I am at never has walk ins. That is
alot of potential clients for me! I am sure if I talk to the owner she would
come down 50 on rent for 6 ms so that I can recoup the cost of putting in a
pedi station and re doing lighting and paint and such. I already have a table.
( I have to supply all equipment )

Should I stay or should I go? your opinions please.

    Kelley
