I have retrieved and launched mine in all kinds of winds and situations. Tell your friend to re-read his sailing manual and watch the launching and beaching portions of the video again. Then he just needs to do exactly what it says and he should have no problems. I have well over 300 days on the water with mine. If he wants some pointers, have him contact me off-list.

p.s. The most fun part of 'foiling for me is wearing the boat upwind - gibing through 270 degrees while pointing as high as possible.
