threeneurons, That is GREAT info. Thank you very much! Now, for the much harder (more opinion-prone) question. Which of the three designs (555,1771,34063) are *least* influenced by "incorrect" board placement? I am about to start building, and my original plan was go to with the 555 plans that many people seem to use because I have not heard any warning about the placement being critical. I *have* seen warning after warning about the 34063 and 1771. I plan to layout my own ONE-SIDED through-hole board and let the auto-router make most of the decisions about placement. With this construction technique would the 34063 be a better plan than the 555? The most I'll be driving at once are six IN-14's in direct drive. The 1771 plans scare the crap outta me because of all the warnings about placement. Is the 555 design really more tolerant?
