Firstly, if the B13B socket would be used, the new tubes could be easily integrated in existing clocks (or perhaps even still functioning lab equipment), as it is most popular for medium sized tubes. Secondly, Z566M is (in my opinion) the most beauftiful tube existing with perfect digits shape and tube diameter/height proportion. Z568M is very similar, but looks "fatter", not mentioning the price and avaibility difference. And I agree that they have a good size for a clock - a Z568M clock can easily be wider than 0,5m, which is gigantic!
