The first thing to realise is that there's no difference between the structure of traps between SNMPv2c and SNMPv3. Both of them use the same basic request PDUs (Trap2 and Inform). The only differences are in the administrative information that's used to wrap these PDUs. So if you've constructed a suitable trap PDU, then all you need to do is set the admin information appropriately, and then send it. Note that the Net-SNMP agent will already take care of this for you. If you define a "trap2sink" line, then it will generate SNMPv2 traps. If you define a suitable "trapsess" line instead, then it will generate SNMPv3 traps, with no code changes needed.
