It's a well argued essay and I highly recommend it. I particularly enjoyed its fresh take on the GPL and the art historical context that it provides for free culture licencing. And the conclusion is excellent. One thing I'd highlighter in to the margins is that copyright licences are neither necessary nor sufficient to create an alternative economic system or to make a political statement other than that culture should be free. > Copyleft: This work is free, you can distribute and modify it under > the terms of the Free Art License. http://artlibre.org/licence/lal/en I'm overdue on blogging about this, but I'm not convinced that the LAL is better for art than CC-BY-SA *unless* one is trying to keep art separate from the rest of society. Which is a defensible position but I'm from a more Pop tradition. ;-) - Rob. _______________________________________________ NetBehaviour mailing list [email protected] http://www.netbehaviour.org/mailman/listinfo/netbehaviour
