The story so far....
My modem refuses to work with surfsquirrel serial.device. Genesis wizard
reports modem not switched on or wrong device chosen (as if ) sometimes
locks computer completely thereby needing a re-boot. Modem leads are new and
came supplied with modem (MagicXpress)

Amterm obtained from NC2 as suggested, device changed to squirrel.serial
and AT typed in. SD & RD lights went out. Tried dialling out and both
lights came back on again!. Modem would not dial out.
What now?
