Since when is asking for working software being overly critical? Sorry, but
I purchased and am using NC3, and I stick with it because I think, with the
track record as proven with NC2 in the beginning, that updates will become
available. Now of course, they can only be made available when they are
finished, so I'll have to wait that long. Going the NC route, rather than
just downloaded and registering from the Vapor site, was because I though I
would be buying a product that would be out of beta-testing stage (read
right: not failure free, no software ever is, I know that). When I got
NetConnect 3 and found out that the programs on it are still in beta-stage
(some very much so, like a MetalWeb refusing to work even in the latest
update) left me feeling "slightly disappointed". Reading back remarks about
NC2 after it's first release, where it was stated that it had been released
too soon, because of preasure of the users, and thus still in an unfinished
beta-stage, led me to believe that Active wouldn't do the same with NC3.
Still, they did. I hang on to NC3 because I have faith enough in Vapor (and
Chris) to come up with updates to make it better. But let's face it, when
ordering NC3, I ordered a suit of software. I did not volunteer to become a
beta-tester. Frustration sets in after having to revalidate various
partitions multiple times. I don't call a person who purchases software and
expects it to work at least in such a way that most of the data on his
harddrive would be safe from unexpected behaviour "overly critical"

As for the comment Chris made that he would be happy if we (the crazy bunch
of NC3 users) would register all various components seperately, because
that would be some 130, I can only say: this would lead vapor to 130,
leaving Chris with 0.00. The various vapor software I registered with
Vapor are paid in cash to Claudia Wagner, who happens to live nearby, and I
doubt Chris ever saw one penny of it? As I understand he only makes money
from netconnect deals, not from seperate vapor sales? So would he be really
that happy? I said it back then: I registered the Vapor software I really
need with Vapor, to directly support Vapor writers for their work, and
order NC3 to support Active/Chris. I did keep my promise. And I still have
faith that new releases will become available in due time. I think we must
remember that Chris can only distribute what the authors of the various
programs write. I am looking forward to future "service packs" or whatever
they will be called.

Dirk
