No Paul, the only really effective way is to carry on as if the sarcasm
in question did not appear at all on your screen. Only then does the
needler think his jab was wasted into the nether regions of cyber
space. Unless of course you can treat it as if you think the sender
meant it literally and you can respond literally in a way that makes it just look
silly.
