Don't be sad.  The Amiga is a /great/ machine for web publishing. 
Much, much more integrated than anything else I've ever used.

If you've got access to something like PPaint you should be able to
use it for GIF images, but not for successful JPG, due to its method
of only using 8-bit internal colour representation.
Oh, instant guide:

GIF:  256 colour (8-bit) images for buttons and 'exact' graphics like
small screengrabs and banners.
JPG:  24 million colour (24-bit) images for photographic graphics.

So don't use JPG for your buttons and background images and you won't
go far wrong.  It's always easy to look at other websites to see how
they're created.

I personally use Image Studio, which was on a CU CD coverdisk yonks
ago.  Have a look on Aminet in gfx/conv.  A quick peek suggests
gfxcon.lha or ArtPROx_xx.lha.  If you need any further suggestions,
