Well dialling in at peak usage hours (6pm until about midnight) I am
normally met with the same range of exchange errors as Chris Millar. This is
a common problem (not that it is acceptable) when an exchange loads up
fully. Connecting any other time usually sees me connect first time.

However once connected I find speeds to be pretty much the same as with my
main ISP Cable Internet (scum) and they offer a decent range of facilities
(though the lack of binary newsgroups is rather pathetic - what an example
of corporate nannying).

However, technical support is terrible. No answers to any of my emails
requesting support on a couple of points even after 3 days and forget about
getting someone on the phone. After 5 minutes of holding you get told to
call back later and are cut off - have these people never heard of a queuing
system (personally I doubt they actually have anyone answering the support
phones).

Also be aware that RHA has a 2 hour automatic cut-off and a 10 minute idle
cutoff. You can best beat the idle timeout by setting your mail client to
page for mail every 5 minutes or so (it is better than pinging - which is
frowned on) but you just have to redial after being slung off after 2 hours.

In short - RHA is by no means the best - but there are plenty of free ISPs
out there who are even worse.

I plan to stick with CI for another 3 or 4 months (keeping RHA as my back-up
ISP). If CI can't get their act together by then - I'm off to RHA
permanently.
