Please take your stupid comments somewhere else instead of polluting this
list. (And other people, less discussion of RHA would be nice too so that
those of us who don't use it don't have to wade through lots of crap about
this evidently poor ISP).
Staying online for hours *IDLE* is indeed selfish and wasteful, and as
someone in charge of a gateway server for several machines which dials up
on an 0800 (not RHA), I encourage all users to disconnect if they are not
using it and NOT to leave it online idle.
However, there is no suggestion that Chris et al are sitting online for no
reason, and let's face it these people have PAID for their RHA account with
0800 access, and so they are perfectly entitled to use that. As I said, to
use that entitlement to stay online 24/7 when you're not using it is
selfish but if they genuinely want to use it for 2-3 hours at a time then
why the hell not? That's not inconsiderate or selfish. If the ISP can't
cope with people using it how they want (within reason) then they should
have better systems or have accepted fewer customers. If they set up an
0800 provider expecting everyone to log on for 10 mins to get mail and go
offline again then they were naive and foolish. (in fact to set up ANY ISP
expecting that would be stupid).
Don't forget also that many people even on ISPs with metered call charges
will stay online for several hours, especially in the evenings and
weekends! I sometimes had reason to before I had 0800 access, and I'm not
going to change my habits and use the net LESS because I have 0800 access,
that would be fairly pointless.
So if we can cut the crap and keep the discussion even *slightly* more
on-topic it would be much appreciated and perhaps prevent me having to
bother to download and read (even on 0800 access) aggravating crap like
this (I feel sure there will be lots of replies like mine pointing out the
stupidity of your comments) and read lots of people moaning about a shit
provider even though it's nothing to do with Netconnect or any associated
packages.
THINK before you post.
