It's still a well above average speed.

TCP/IP takes care of the errors, so you don't see them, but they do
affect transfer rates. Data is sent in 1500 (usually) byte packets. If
one byte is corrupted, the whole packet has to be retransmitted,
resulting is a lower effective transfer speed. Running "NetStat status"
immediately after disconnecting gives a breakdown of the traffic during
your session. Look for the report on duplicate packets near the top.
