I have always used GD Spell from GD Soft. It is freeware, english
only, but you can add words to the aux dictionary if you wish. It is
available at http://www.gdsoft.com click on "FREEWARE" there
are several other potentially useful dos programs available as well.
The catch is you'll need a java capable browser to get there. If you
search , you might find another source.
