My own vague memories of the .netrc files seems to jive what your saying. For the non-UNIX initiates out there, this is basically a file that will automatically send userid and password when connected to a specified host.
While this might make a nice addition to Net-Tamer, I'm really not seeing alot of use for out (save for a few UNIX junkies out there. :-) At least, not if the .netrc file is sitting on the host of the UNIX machine your connected to. (Which I didn't think NT supported anyway outside of Telnet - which is another animal. )
Or, was your suggestion for NetTamer to have a functional equivalent on the client side? If so, this is already accomplished through the signon scripts - albeit with a different command syntax.
Did this answer your question - or am I in a different ball park
than you? :-)
(I do have to agree with my fellow listers that your choice of
words was difficult to follow...)

Unix has .netrc files which internet applications on unix systems can use to
automate connections to sites. Anywhere that asks for a user: and password:
can have an entry in one of these files. They're used when a user has
specific account identities and needs to use them to connect to different
sites because their information isn't available from the anonymous account.
The format of the file looks like this:machine
garbo.uwasa.fi
user
runemage
password
doorEach entry starts with a machine line and has that form unless account is
present in which case it appears after password and is also followed by a
string. I'd like to know what the rest of the list thinks about having a
capability like this added to nettamer so that if a net.rc file is found and
in correct form it could be used by nettamer.
