Forget DD or anyone else, even the creative head (Suresh
Mullick) and the writer (Piyush Pandey, who currently heads one of India's
largest advertising agencies) are being ignored completely these days,
creating a very unpleasant stink around the 'acquisition' of the creation by
the filmmaker, who has created a second version that has been bitterly
criticised for missing the spirit of the original and substituting it with
some commercial material. I strongly suggest that anyone with deep feelings
for FOSS avoid 'copying' the lyrics or tune from this tainted art, where
'IP' has been used (why does that sound so familiar) to put a fence around
someone else's brilliance.

We have enough talent between us to do something that stands on its own.

As far as doing a song is concerned, let us copy the best part of 'Sur' -
the fact that one brilliant person (Mullick) micromanaged the entire
production, and refused to bow down to any 'committee' of good ideas from
less talented people.
