I agree what you said. Actually there is a big divide in understanding and
groups as you said:

"elite-upper--lower middle class linux--users--confused"

The Elite Class (experts) Linux Users fail to understand why FOSS is
accepted here by the Lower Middle Class (low budget average) Computer users
(no mater they are on windows or linux).

It's slowly now where Linux is being adopted as a desktop OS when masses
(the low budget users who are not much aware of legalities, philosophies,
etc.) have realized that the applications (cross platform) that they can
use on Windows are available on Linux, and so can say good bye to Windows
and so also leave the world of piracy.

It's not about laziness to learn nor resistance to change. The flamers here
fail to see what I saw. Before you flame some one of being unaware or miser
or ignorant, try to understand the perspective of the poster. This is where
the non FOSS companies are capturing the market. There are non FOSS (cash)
free apps in market for windows. Although they are not open source, they
are (cash) Free and psychologically the greater number of Users (not
developers) just want a piece of software to work. They do not care whether
the source is available or not as they can do nothing with it. I agree that
one can make money of the Free(dom) Software but from the GNU's site as a
simple average user what I understand is:
The Foundations of the GPL

Nobody should be restricted by the software they use. There are four
freedoms that every user should have:

   - the freedom to use the software for any purpose,
   - the freedom to change the software to suit your needs, /*Doesn't this
mean that there should not be restriction on whichever OS the software is
installed (if it supports that platform) */
   - the freedom to share the software with your friends and neighbors, and
   - the freedom to share the changes you make.

What is the point in arguing over Windows tax, etc. People need support and
someone who can make them understand the concepts... Not statements such as
"If you do cannot interpret the clause, you are an Ignorant person".

If a person fails to understand, try to help him understand in a decent
way... do not just flame

I liked the way Bruno (the maker of GCompris) reacted. He just gave the
solution in a simple line.

The understanding of the masses of the word FREE is completely different
and it cannot be changed all of a sudden.
