Totally lost in this arcane chain. Anyhow...

And what exactly is the point of getting Winduhs users to convert to
Linux if they don't understand what freedom is all about? The "low-
cost-or-no-cost" approach only works as long as the competition doesn't
bring in a product cheaper/better than the FOSS one you're trying to
push. For example, you can claim that Linux is cheaper that Winduhs,
but that only holds true while MS keeps charging for its products. The
day they make Winduhs free to download and distribute, try to get the
same people who adopted Linux so enthusiastically to continue running
Linux. They will only stick to it if they believe in the underlying
principles of freedom.

Who exactly flamed you? Maybe you'd be better off once you get that
chip off your shoulder -- this is a mailing list comprising largely of
knowledgeable people from various fields of activity. You burst in
screaming some crap about freedom and price and inability to reconcile
the two and whining about the GPL, without doing the smallest bit of
homework to understand your problem. People who have more relevant
experience here corrected your (wrong) perception and gave you pointers
on how things work. Instead of being grateful, now you're whining about
being corrected.

...but it was everyone else who tried to clear up your misunderstanding.
Whether they succeeded or not, at least thank them for trying.

You mean /your/ understanding of the word "free" is deficient. Well,
you need to fix that problem if you want to make progress in the world
of FOSS.
