Hi !

Before you make an issue of this , please check if they have the platform for SSO like OpenID and anyone can join with an e-mail ID which is SSO compliant .

The link given opens a page requiring Gmail login. there is no question of any other email id working.

It may be gmail is one of the players. Also instead of simply raising slogans against gmail,

it is quite legitimate to raise a protest against something we consider wrong (without necessarily offering solutions as well), don't be patronising

see how you can provide an alternative and give some constructive suggestions.

Can you give us some points in a para or two, which we can put in the letter to MHRD on technically what they could do.

Are you willing to pitch in and help them if they need help in SSO ?

So the first step may be asking them what is the road map and if the follow standards for OpenID . There are many open source platforms for openID.

Cheers

When I saw the ad in the paper the other day, I found the
footer of the ad has google as one of the partner. I am sure
they are using google apps for this mooc. therefore, without
gmail id the students cannot register.

Also if you see the header of the ad, all the iits have been
        listed.

What a share? Even wth all the iits of India put together they
cannot make a mooc platform that can free the Indian students
        the dependence from Google.

I think we should send a representation immediately. Immediate
reactions sometimes work. Let us do a campaign!

What do others think about this?

Yes we should give a representation
