The problem isn't with the tunables themselves, it's with the massive
matrix of possible workloads they are designed to accommodate. That is, a
lot of those tunables have been introduced to solve some particular
customer escalation -- in rewriting the driver to be GLDv3-based, a lot of
those issues would need to be reexamined. (And yes, ce also has other
tricky things, like its own custom worker-thread model that can be
optionally enabled.)
Personally, I don't think bringing drivers like ce under Nemo natively is
worth the effort -- especially since Clearview UV will make them
transparently work under GLDv3. Instead, I agree with Nicolas that I'd
rather see our time spent opening up the GLDv3 APIs so that we can avoid
future porting efforts :-)
While tangential, the side effect of (possibly) opening up ce would at least
make it more worthwhile.
