First of all don't reboot your machine. Probably there is a problem with your
configuration files (XF86Config). And it can be solved. There is a way to enter
the command line even if you have set your machine to start x automatically. If
you are using lilo to boot you can pass some commands to the machine at lilo
prompt. Do it:
LILO: linux init 3
It is gonna make your computer boot at the command line (console ; out of the
X). Now you can edit your XF86Config or use an application to do it. There are
two pretty good: XF86Setup or Xconfigurator. Type any of these two at the
console and try to fix your problems. I hope it can help you.
