I usually adopt helvetica, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.
It looks reasonable on screen, I say reasonable, though perhaps still a
little close, but in print preview, and actual print off, it is all too
close set to be easily readable. I never had this problem before.

You haven't changed any printer settings?
I don't have Kword installed, so can't help. I have always used OpenOffice.org.

It seems like I will be joining you with OO if I cannot fix my kword print problem.
I have a choice of 4 drivers for my Z53 printers(of which we have 3) and I make a practice of setting up all 4 every time. 3 of these drivers are ghostscript, the 4th is a proprietary(lexmark) , and all 4 each work to a degree, and I don't have any problem with the character spacing with any other app like mozilla for instance, which I use quite often Only kword, and I think kde in general, though I might be wrong there as I haven't test it with the likes of kspread, which I gave up on some time ago as I couldn't solve it's basic problems. I like kword, it has many good features, and the developers have made it more than a word processor, so I want to make it work if I can.

If the problem is with the drivers, then I don't see why it is, since other apps can use them without problems, still , even if it is with the drivers, I sure don't know where and what I am supposed to do with it. I mean the driver setting include many options, but nothing I would sort of figure have anything to do with the character spacing. If I am wrong , by all means correct me I want to learn what to do as much as the next man. I'm guessing it's a kde setup problem , but what ?
