Hi Paddy et al, That was it! Thank you very much! Something about the sound card which is on-board and works with everything else -- go figure. The error message is as follows: [SDL Init] ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:1055:(snd_pcm_hw_open) open /dev/snd/pcmC0D0p failed: Device or resource busy [Graphics...] [Levels] Ready.
