Have you tried starting from a terminal with:

soundwrapper frozen-bubble

If you're running KDE as a desktop it's likely that artsd is getting in your 
way. Especially since I think the developer of the game is GNOME user. <g>

Just a thought, I don't know if it will even start that way. May be worth a 
try.

Are there even sound files that the game is supposed to use?
