Interesting. When I was dealing with all this I was on 10.0, and there is a
cdrecord available on Charles' site for 10.0:

http://www.eslrahc.com/10.0/cdrecord-2.01-0.a36.0.1mdk.i586.rpm

But you're right, he doesn't have one for 10.1. The version of cdrecord I have
installed is reported by "cdrecord -v" as: Cdrecord-Clone 2.01-dvd
(i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2004 Jrg Schilling. So maybe this is
up to date, and Charles hasn't needed to produce a more recent one.

cdrecord does have a lot of options for tweaking it (a dauntingly large
number, in fact - the web page is 1,686 lines long!). I've never taken time
to get familiar with them (I'm thankful for k3b saving me from that
chore :^). But there may be a setting in there that could help. I've often
seen recommendations to lower the recording speed. Perhaps some cdrecord guru
can jump in here. I'm at the limit of my knowledge.
