You said that whoever installed WinXP used the FAT32 System.
Others here have warned you of the risks and they should be heeded.
My concern for you here is that you possible have WinXP Home installed.
If so, dump it and get WinXP Professional.
I've set up two WinXP systems for work [ and yes, I'm only a newbie IT
wanabe ] but already I see the results of my setups
compared to staff members home installations on cheapy systems. WinXP
Home ~ I do strongly NOT - I repeat - NOT recommend.
Just my two cents ( sorry - pennies ) worth.
