I use about three, one for each user in my house. Very convenient.
Didn't know about this feature until I dug a wee bit.

Yes, 12 does seem excessive. I do remember back in the Windows 3.11 days a
colleague noting that there was a multiple workspace feature available for
Windows. Most Windows users seem to be unaware of the possibility.
Hrm...then 24 is way excessive, right?
BTW, with MS WFW 3.11, I used "Presentation Manager for Windows" and had heaps
of different desktops; also used Felix for OS/2 - same thing - and then there
was my fave Desqview and Desqview/X...I could never live in a SINGLE desktop
world, and refuse to do so to this day.
