Hello,
I am going to upgrade my graphic cards. I would appreciate if any one
here with the following hardware mention their experience (if it works
or no in their system). There are drivers for most of them, however my
experience says it is still possible that they do not work.
1- ATI FrieGL cards. Do the ATI drivers work as they should?
2- Nvidia Quadro cards?
Are ATI FireGL drivers included in the main edition (PowerPack and up).
Any failure in installing these drivers? They are only available in rpm
format while Nvidia drivers not. So i tend to think there is more chance
that Nvidia drivers work without any problem.
3- Audigy sound cards with firewire port. By searching the web, i know
that the sound works, but my main concern now is if the firewire work too?
I don“t have enough PCI slots in my PC, so i have to go for combo cards.
The firewire side of the Belkin USB/Firewire combo card that i purchased
a couple of months ago, does not work under Linux despite the report
some one gave on internet that this card works under Mandrake 10.0. So
now i am going to sell it out on Ebay and try other possible options:
One is Audigy cards with Firewire (and using a USB standalone card
then). I certainly want to have firewire access under Linux, since i am
about to begin video capturing and editing and my capture card is
firewire (Canopus ADVC-110, just purchased).
All comments are appreciated. Thanks, Ramin
