Most mail readers can be configured to differentiate the parts of a 
thread.  In many cases this method makes the sense easier to follow.

As for your display problem, I see that you are using Outlook, so I 
would refer you to the reply in this from Guy Rouillier, where you will 
find a solution to the problem.
