I JUST saw the message from Ben about 'soundwrapper' that fixed the
icon launch of xmms, before I got your email.

Seeing your note, I tried xmms from the CLI, but without the --play
<name of MP3 song>. [Songs are stored in an obscure storage area, with
a very loooong address to get there. Took the lazy way. :-)] It popped
up OK and was able to play an mp3 on a playlist.

Interestingly, it gave me TWO Konsole pages of errors, including many
'CRITICAL' ones. But it still played. I'd say it has rather good error
recovery. :-)
