Wasn't actually telling you how and what to do ....your mail just offered the 
oportune comment. ;-)

OTOH I always use "urpmi" which means I don't keep a local copy of installed 
RPMS (if all goes well, that is) by default and thus can't check 'em that 
way. I could, using "mcc" and/or the packagemanager "gurpmi" but find it a 
very clunky and slow way to do things.

Somebody else pointed out the use of "locate" which has the downer of needing 
to use "updatedb" first, whilst "find" feels like using a sledgehammer to 
kill a mosquito.
