[...] Well, I can't find any BIOS update that will help with booting from USB: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=96231&swItem=PSG_I14315-35994&prodNameId=96717&swEnvOID=181&swLang=8&taskId=135&mode=3 I honestly don't know if the USB pen drive is seen at boot time but if it is,( I am not sure if this will work - not a grub expert at all) but, you may be able to do the Booting from a grub floppy ... ftp://ftp.proxad.net/pub/Distributions_Linux/Mandrakelinux/official/10.1/i586/install/images/ grab the hd_grub.img for 10.1 and then go here to http://qa.mandriva.com/hd_grub.cgi and select the choices that apply to you ... Obviously you shouldn't spend the money until you are sure you can boot.
