OK, maybe it wasn't just me, so I will now admit that never really got this to work at all using Red Hat 7.2 either. It wasn't until I threw in the towel and installed Mandrake 8.1 over the top of my Red Hat 7.2 install that things started working. To give Red Hat some credit, in retrospect I think I may have also chosen the wrong mouse driver, because my log seemed to be fairly normal until the mouse was loaded, and still died the same way even after changing from "accel" to "noaccel".
Daniel, in your log it almost looks like there might be a problem interfacing with your monitor - not sure. In my case, I wimped out and installed Mandrake because it has a slightly more advanced install procedure with seemingly better hardware detection. Of course, I got brave/stupid and decided to go all the way during the Mandrake install by choosing to enable hardware accelleration - only to find myself back in the same boat with no video at all. The nice thing was that this time when I set the "accel" to "noaccel", it worked. It's not real fast, but having something was better than nothing. David McLure p.s. Speaking of being a newbie, how the heck do you actually reply to a post without creating a whole new thread in here?
