I got probably the shittiest computer you can buy today and no idea how to work that thing either. Installed so far 3 different distributions on it and never had a serious crash (as in everything gets wiped out). Thing is I RTFM. How anybody can just download a distro and get it to work without a manual is beyound me. Problem is that in my opinion linux as a system doesnt get represented correct if you do some reading about it. The filesystems are different on the distributions. Many included programs (especially multimedia) just dont work because things are missing e.g. win32dlls or plugins. If you than try to get it to work you find ot that the - incomplete - programs dont work if you put the missing parts in the default places. So the only thing left to do is download the whole thing - now that doesnt make a lot of sense. Plus if you are as stupid as I am you better pray that you find a rpm that works on your distro. If you have to compile as a newbie you are usually dead in the water. I dont mind. Never had so much fun for so little money. But if somebodies life depends on his PC he should better know what he is in for!
