Sorry for the frequent posts... I really should unify my replies.  Anyway, I
have been pleased with the "Rute User's Tutorial and Exposition" by Paul
Sheer.  It is clearly written and does a good job of introducing the
fundamentals.  I've been working my way through slowly and have learned a
lot.  Go to http://www.icon.co.za/~psheer/book/index.html.gz to get it.  By
"get" I mean download for free, not buy.  Interesting how free stuff is
often better than the for-sale stuff.  Someone should do that for software
:-)
