Hey Kerry, welcome to Nighthawk Lovers, I'm gonna let the mechanics here on NHL deal with your electrical issues, but as for the mileage I would strongly encourage you *before* you pull your carbs off for a good cleaning, run some SeaFoam<http://www.seafoamsales.com/motorTuneUp.htm>through your gas tank first. You can find SeaFoam at most auto parts stores. (Expect to pay around $8 - $9 a can.) Give that a good shot and see if that doesn't make a difference.
