I'm not sure how you'd vent the cap. Background story: When I bought the bike the evap system was gone but the vent line was blocked off. I would ride and the bike would eventually stall because a vacuum developed in the tank. Until I found the blocked vent tube, I lived with the problem by opening the gas cap every once in a while during a ride. Kind of a pain but the bike would run fine. I looked at modifying the cap before I found the vent tube, and couldn't come up with a reasonable way short of drilling a small hole straight through it.
I would suggest pinching off the evap hose, using your old cap and see what happens. Just keep a spare key in the lock on the cap as you ride so you can pop it open if the bike starts to bog down. Maybe the cap won't seal correctly anyway. Joe On Apr 24, 8:35 am, solarDog <[email protected]> wrote: > Thanks for the response.... Unfortunately the replacement tank did not > have the cap.
