I have to chime in on this one - I purchased a cheep front tire from the shop I take my bike to. Big mistake. I feel all the grooves in the road and really don't feel that comfortable in tight corners. I replaced it within 1,000 miles and don't regret it - don't like having to buy a second tire but I'd rather be safe. I was going to ride it out but had a close call on an unexpected sharp corner with an on- comming SUV. My 12 year old was on the back and I was being very carefull, I just didn't know the corner and was in trouble fast. Bottom line - tires are the worst thing to cut corners on. I've heard great things about the Kenda's and they are affordable. Just buy something that you are safe with. $100 is not worth going down over.
I live in Hawaii so shipping cost is always a big problem. I found the DUNLOP K505 TIRE REAR HONDA NIGHTHAWK 750 140/70-17 on eBay for $98 + $15 shipping to anywhere in the US. That's agreat price for me. THe next closest I could find as $150 - most places really stick it to you when shipping to Hawaii.
