the cable on your 450 goes from the tach to the port on the R side of
the engine, just inside the R exhaust right? The black outer cover
on the cable on mine is melted away from touching the exhaust. Your
question is how to get them into the ports right? I put the cable
into the tach first since the other end is free to 'adjust' the inner
cable till it fits in the port at the tach. Then with the securing
screw removed insert the other end of the cable into the engine
port. You may have to line the inner cable up but that is possible
because the inner tach cable can be turned while the other end is in
the tach. I haven't had any problem starting at either place - the
tach or the engine - just a bit of jiggling gets them in. Then
replace the securing screw back in the engine port.
