It's a bucket list kind of hing. I'm twice retired -- once from the Navy and again as a tractor railer driver, so I'm no stranger to long-distance travel. Still orking at a desk job in the trucking industry. Although I've traveled this country hundreds of times, it was always ike the words to the song -- "Got a long way to go and a short time o get there." Been to or thru every state in the lower 48. If you amed a particular place, I could probly say "Yep, been there, done hat." But if you asked me to describe my experiences in any of those places, 'd be likely to respond "Well, I spent four hours there once, backed p to the loading dock of a Walmart distribution center" or, "I was at he naval air station there for 6 weeks of training in nineteen aught uch 'n such." And like that. So the current plan is a sort of "Smell The Roses" tour. Just wander bout with no particular agenda, except to investigate whatever suits y fancy at a given moment. The annual Balloon Festival in New exico, for instance. Or even the World's Largest Ball of String in herever that is -- I forget. And, most importantly, spend as much or s little time in each place as my attention span dictates. No rush, n other words. Much as I love my 750, it's not the tool for this job, hence the nterest in a naked Goldwing. I don't much care for all the plastic n the rolling sofa models (Where's the remote for the coffee pot?!), hich is why I'm checking out early ones. To answer your question, what am I finding: The gamut -- from a '76, eeds carb work. $700. To a pristine '75, frame-up restoration. A teal at only $10K (!) Best web site so far seems to be at the randakks link I listed above. t is to naked Goldwings, what nighthawks.net is to Nighthawk Lovers. Stay tuned.
