I'd wouldn't be so "against" the public ed system if it wasn't so MANDATORY.
I pay thousands of $$ each year to the local ISD. I have no kids, when I
have kids they will require 12 yrs of primary schooling, I will pay taxes to
ISD for around 60-80 yrs depending on how long I live and own a home. If I
want to send my kids to private or home school I STILL have to pay for the
public school. If I never have kids I STILL have to pay for the public
school. If I have kids, decide to send them to public school, I still don't
get to CHOOSE which public school by any means other than physically moving
to a different district.
I have nothing against teachers, a lot of my aunts and cousins and friends
are teachers. It's not the teachers' fault. It's government, at all levels.
Set the schools up as a private enterprise, let competition drive the cost,
make ppl pay to send their kids to the schools of their choice. Remove the
mismanaged property tax and then people will be able to afford to send their
kids to private or home schools. Some schools will cost more, some will cost
less, you go to the one you can afford, that's just life. A lamborghini
would be nice, I drive a tacoma, it's what I can afford.
