The biggest problem with parents is needing to have children that are happy with their parents rather than adult son's and daughter's who are happy with themselves............

Hey Kurt there's no bashing here at all. My dad is a retired public school superintendent, and my brother and sister are still today teaching in the public school system. My wife and I were also schooled publicly. But the one-size-fits-all way of doing things just doesn't always work. That, however, doesn't negate the wonderful and gifted educators--like your mother--who have embodied our system of education for many years now.
