I've rode the Galveston ferry, not as much fun as I thought it would
be. The deckhand didn't know anything about bikes, put me on the far
right side of the boat so the slope of the deck meant I couldn't leave
the bike on the kickstand. The seagulls circling overhead made me
nervous as well :P That's a quick ride, maybe only 20 minutes so it's
not too bad. On the weekends the traffic waiting to get on the ferry
can be almost two hours though. Also, if you put the sidestand down on
the deck you feel ALL of the vibrations the whole ride so I kept by
bike balanced on the wheels instead. The subsequent ride alone the
beach highway past the lighthouses made it worth it though ;)
